Rhenish Hanseatic League
In 2009, the mayors of the cities of Kalkar, Wesel, Emmerich am Rhein and Neuss signed a charter establishing the Rhenish Hanseatic League on the site of the former customs port of Neuss. The founding of the Rhenisch Hanseatic League is primarily intended to promote awareness of the Hanseatic League also in the Rhenish home country. The Hanseatic League is becoming increasingly important in the “network age.” This benefits both the economy and the tourism sector in the Hanseatic cities, as they can use the network for their own market access.
