Hanseatic Cycle Route
What could be a better way to explore the Hanseatic cities than by bike?
Over a total distance of 450 kilometres, the route takes you across the border to the historic centres of the Hanseatic cities.
The Hanseatic Cycle Route leads you to the Hanseatic cities and through unforgettable landscapes. You will be accompanied by Rhine and Ijssel: rivers that brought great wealth and on whose banks prosperous trading towns have developed.
Experience history close and authentic: walk along the ancient streets, touch the remains of medieval city walls and enter the former storage houses. The historical brilliance of the powerful trade alliance is revealed here in all its splendour. Gastronomy and attractive shopping opportunities are never far away.
Would you like to take a shorter route? Then simply select a stage of the cycle path or one of the Hanseatic loops. There are eight stages, each covering part of the total distance. The stages and places of interest are described in this brochure. In addition, 16 Hanseatic loops have been worked out: circular routes, each of which leads through the surroundings of a hanseatic city.
